What is a Zune?

Zune is Microsoft’s answer to Apple’s iPod. This portable media player allows users to listen to music or podcasts, or watch their favorite videos, movies or shows anywhere. The Zune only supports a handful of platforms, including Zune Marketplace, Zune Social, Xbox 260 and Windows 7 Media Center.

While all this may be great, you need to be able to load your videos onto Zune before you can view them. So, here are some tips on how to put videos on to your Zune player.

Are Your Videos in the Right Format?

Just like Zune is only compatible with certain operating platforms, it’s only compatible with certain video formats. These include MPEG-4, H.262, ASF and WMV. So, you should check to see if the video that you want to download is in the correct format. If not, look for the video on

other websites that do have Zune-supported formats.

Downloading Your Videos

If you can’t find the video anywhere else, you’re going to have to look into third-party sites that convert file formats. Most of these programs require a fee, but there are some that will allow you to try it out for free. One of those is the Cucusoft Zune Video Converter. Just follow the step-by-step instructions to convert your video file. You can also use this software to upload your DVDS to your Zune.

Always ensure that you are downloading videos from trusted sources. There are many free sites on the web, but these sites may also carry viruses along with their downloads. If you must go with a free site, use popular sites like YouTube or Google for your downloads.

If you cannot find your videos on these sites, try membership sites as opposed to pay per download sites. With the latter kind, you have to pay each time that you want a new movie. The membership sites usually only charge you a yearly or monthly fee to download movies. One such membership site is Get All To Go, and it has an extensive collection of music, games and movies that work with players, including Zune.

Use the Factory Software

Use the software that came with your Zune or other ones recommended by Microsoft. You want to be able to quickly connect to your computer and download your movies and videos. If you have the incorrect software, this could make this process difficult. It’s best to just go with factory software.

Still Having Problems?

If you are having trouble uploading your videos even after all this, try restarting the machine. Sometimes, the size of the file caused the device to stall or not upload at all, and a quick restart may fix it completely.

If you’re still having trouble uploading videos to your Zune, you may want to check out the technical support area of the website. They have a lot of answers to some of the most frequently asked questions.
