Reading is one of the first things a child learns in grade school but can also be a very difficult task. Kids can become frustrated or embarrassed if they experience difficulties with the learning process. Students with special needs may even give up on learning to read. Read on to learn more...

Children and Reading

Some children actually have reading disorders such as dyslexia, while others just have more difficulties learning to read than others. Some children may need constant practice to get the hang of it. This starts in the classroom and has excellent results if it is enforced at home as well. Schools and families benefit from programs designed to help children read. Some children’s reading difficulties improve by over 75% and become undetectable later in life when given that extra attention to correct the problem early

Headsprout is another good problem similar to ClickN Read making it accessible at school or from the home. They also offer a free trial for prospective teachers and parents that are interested so that they can test it out. This program is also great for special needs children with developmental disabilities such as ADHD and Autism as it is designed by a team of people that includes ABA specialists as well. Headsprout has an attractive theme that keeps kids attention and allows you to save and print progress reports.

These are just two of the great programs available that help children read with award winning techniques that are used in many schools across the US. Remember to have the child practice his or her reading skills when they are in a pleasant mood as that usually promotes the best effort and results!
