Fun is an important part of life. Fun activities for ADHD children should include learning activities that foster important skills and coping techniques to help children with ADHD engage more effectively in the classroom.

Fun activities In and Out of the Classroom

ADHD is a behavioral disorder. Fun activities can help children with ADHD enjoy and develop essential skills in focusing their attention on a particular task. Parents and teachers can try these fun activities for their children with ADHD.

  • Get an interesting story book. Read the story for your child in a quiet distraction free room. After finishing give a brief quiz regarding different characters in the story. Ask the child to suggest another suitable title for the story or a different ending. This will help to stimulate the brain of your child with ADHD. But reading a story should be relaxed and fun for your child.

  • Keeping a pet at home can become a fun activity for your child with ADHD. Let the child get acquainted with the pet by allowing him/her to play with it, to observe its behavior etc. This will help the ADHD child to focus on one thing and increase his/her attention span in taking care of a living thing.

  • If you feel your child is interested in art and craft, you can plan special art activities for your child. You can help your child in his/her craft work and both of you can enjoy this fun activity together.

  • A simple fun activity for your children can be a friend sleepover. Let the child plan it by himself/herself to make the friend sleepover fun.

  • You can plan an outing with your ADHD child. During an outing, you can give instructions to the child to make a list of different trees which he/she sees along the way. After coming back, you can ask your child to find more about these trees from the Internet or books.

Studies show that children with ADHD enjoy reward giving activities. Therefore try to plan fun activities that provide frequent praise and simple rewards. It is necessary to keep a balance of work and fun in the lives of children with ADHD. Plan some fun activity for a good time with your child and watch him/her grow and learn.
