Brainfuse Learning: An Online Tutoring Website for Any Student

Brainfuse.com is only one of many educational companies which offer online tutoring services for students. Although this may seem like a fairly new concept, Brainfuse has been offering one-on-one tutoring since 1999 through online technology. This site offers three different services:

• “Help Now” online tutoring for Libraries. These services include one-on-one homework help and an online writing lab which is open 24 hours. Library must subscribe to “Help Now” to access the site from the library.

• Online tutoring for schools, which is offered from 3rd to 12th grade under the No Child Left Behind Act. Students are tutored with grade and developmentally appropriate online lessons. Students are first given exams to see which level they would fall into in the subject of choice. If the child is not eligible to take the online tutoring lessons through the school, then the child can sign up for private lessons for a fee.

• Brainfuse Higher Ed.offers 24/7 online tutoring services for colleges and universities in various subjects including Mathematics (Basic Skills - Calculus II), Writing, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Introduction to Human Anatomy, Physiology, Accounting, Economics, Introductory Finance, Spanish, and Statistics. All higher education tutors have obtained at least their master’s degree, live in the United States, and have previous teaching or tutoring experience.

Online Writing Lab:

The Online Writing Lab is open 24 hours a day. Learners can submit their essays or written assignments through a secure file sharing program. Writing specialists then get back to the student within 24 hours of submission. The assignment is assessed in several areas including response to task, organization, focus, word usage and grammar/mechanics. Students can also attain live feedback on their assignment by connecting with a one-on-one tutor or writing specialist.

The Online Lessons:

The Brainfuse curriculum has been compiled by various teachers and Brainfuse staff who specialize in writing curriculum. All lessons are completed through the Brainfuse whiteboard. Before a student comes into the online classroom, the tutor has prepared for the lesson they will be completing that day. When the student enters the classroom, the lesson is loaded into the whiteboard. Lessons are colorful and age/grade level appropriate.

Overall Brainfuse.com is offering a wonderful program for many students of different levels. If your library offers the Help Now program, I recommend using it every chance you get as you can access it from your library for free. Unfortunately, Brainfuse.com does not contain any pricing information on the website and you would have to contact them directly by filling out this form.

As an online tutor for Brainfuse, I find that more students should take advantage of this online help center for education. The lessons are wonderfully planned and the tutors are all supportive of the students and their educational goals. I recommend viewing a demo of the program.
