Have you always wanted to help people, but haven't had the time for a traditional brick and mortar education? This article will walk you through the possibilities distance education has to offer you in pursuance of a bachelors degree in physical therapy online.

What was it that brought you here to this page? Was it a series of google searches where you were trying to find leads to a degree in physical therapy online? I have been where you are, and unfortunately, from what I understand now, there is no such thing as a bachelors in physical therapy degree. Physical therapy degrees begin at the graduate level. Before you can enroll in a masters program, you need a bachelors degree. But the news is not all bad. What you should be searching for is a bachelor of science degree in pre-physical therapy. Read on and I will tell you how you can develop your education and get an online degree in physical therapy.

Supplemental Education Through Online Learning

There are not a lot of programs that offer a bachelors in physical therapy, or pre-physical therapy, online. There is at least one with a complete online course of study, and many other colleges that offer distance education classes although most classes would be taken on campus. Even if you cannot attend a college and attain your degree purely through online learning, you can still supplement your education with classes offered online. Check out different colleges that you might be interested in attending and inquire about their distance education programs. You might be pleasantly surprised. Peterson's Guide to Distance Learning Programs, 2005, lists Walters State Community College as a school that offers distance education courses in the subject area of physical therapy at the undergraduate level.

A Great Alternative

Grand Canyon University offers a bachelor of science in biology: pre-physical therapy. This is a great program for those who are hard pressed for time to attend regular college and are interested in the field of physical therapy. With this degree you could become a physical therapist's assistant and upon completion you could work towards a masters in physical therapy. How better to learn about physical therapy than to work along a professional?

What Are the Costs?

All colleges are expensive. Nothing in life worth getting is absolutely free. Grand Canyon University charges $687.50 per undergraduate credit hour. This is a bit of change, but financial aid is available to those who qualify. The money you will earn in the long haul will far outweigh any you could have spent on the education to get there.

How Much Can I Make?

In reference to the salary of assistants to physical therapists, according to the BLS, "Median annual earnings of physical therapist assistants were $41,360 in May 2006".
