In my article, Teaching Children Latin at Home, I mentioned various curriculums parents could use to instruct their children in this ancient language. In this article, I take a closer look at one of the programs mentioned.
Prima Latina is a curriculum introducing students in grades K-3 to Latin. The book, CD, and Teacher's manual are put out by Memoria Press (makers of Latina Christiana). The truly excellent part of this curriculum is that it assumes no knowledge of Latin on the part of the parent. Instead, it introduces students to Latin. In this particular curriculum, the grammar is light, but the vocabulary gets the children comfortable with the ways of the language. It should be noted that this is not a secular Latin program (it includes Latin Prayers and Christian themes throughout the book.)
