The Similarities and Differences of Chinese Mandarin Characters benlai and yuanlai

Chinese mandarin characters原来 【yuánlái】and 本来【běnlái】are interchangeable when they mean “original,” “at first,” or “originally”. They are used to express when the original thing liked this and now it’s changed or still the same as before. As adverbs, they can be placed before or after subject.

It means, “The original color of phone was black but now it’s changed”.

Example:

喜欢 【xǐhuān= love】 足球【zúqiú=soccer】 的【de】 本来【běnlái=of course】就【jiù】多【duō=a lot】。
