I have tried several books as a homeschooling Mom. One of the books that I was most looking forward to using was a text called "Math Made Easy". Neither my daughter or I found it to be "easy" as the title suggests.

Math workbooks are the books that as a homeschooling mom, I have purchased the most. Math is a subject that requires a lot of practice and worksheets. The concepts build on each other so that if a student does not understand one concept, then he or she will likely struggle to understand the other concepts as well. Two years ago my daughter was having a little trouble understanding math. I looked for workbooks to use to help her understand the Mathematical concepts. One of the books that I tried was called "Math Made Easy". When I purchased it, I trusted that the title meant that the workbook would make learning the math concepts "easy" for her. I begin using the workbook with some enthusiam, but ended up frustrated. Also, my daughter did not show any improvement in Math than before I had purchased the book.

The first issue I found was that Math Made Easy was completely disorganized. I do not know if they have changed the order of the workbook within the last two years, but the concepts were not grouped together. For example, there may be a tally chart on one page and a multiplication worksheet on the next page. The pages were not in any type of succession, nor were the topics grouped together. For example, time worksheets were on pages 3, 21, 44, and 100.

The Math Made Easy series just provides extra practice pages. The pages may be exactly like other workbooks with practice pages that you have already been using; therefore, do not provide any additional help for the struggling student. They do not teach the child new concepts to support the struggling student either. I think that the name is very deceiving. The title of the workbooks sound as if the workbooks would be helpful for students who are struggling in math. They do not.

I would not recommend this book and can tell you from my personal experience with using the workbook, that if you are expecting it to be a teaching aid in math, especially to help a struggling student, then you may be disappointed. Save the money and self-make practice pages that reflect the text that you are already using instead.
