Aplusmath.org: Review

Aplusmath.org looks like a simple site and yet it is filled with plenty of great material to use for your math class. It is simple looking and yet easy enough to follow as it is not decorated with unnecessary flashy adornments. There format is simple. There are two columns, one for printable worksheets and one for online worksheets. Maybe not that attractive to look at and possibly a site you may even overlook. There is a nice array of math material here though.

• Order of Operations

• Basic Algebra

When you first click on a link, you are directed to a worksheet. The set up for the worksheets include choosing types of problems you would like to create as well as the number of problems you would like to include. You are also given a choice of formatting vertical or horizontal. After creating your worksheet and printing you can click “Get Answer” tab on the bottom to print out the answer sheet.

The online worksheets allows for students to practice directly on the computer. The student chooses the format (question types, number of questions, etc.) then the online worksheet is shown. The student can then fill in the correct answers to the questions directly on the computer. After the student is done filling out the answers they can click the tab “Get Answers”. The next page that pops ups shows the students correct percentile. It also shows what questions he or she got wrong and right. This would be a great homework substitute, having the students create a worksheets based on what they are learning then print out their percentiles for the teacher to see the next day.

Overall the site is simple and not at all fascinating. You can not judge a book by its cover though. I for one would not have noticed all of the great material which is included and will definitely be visiting the site again.
