Greece is place of mythology with an incredible past. Students will love to learn about the culture of Greece. A fun activity to do with the class while studying Greece is to learn the Greek Alphabet.

A is for Alexander the Great, who established a great Greek empire over 2,000 years ago.

B is for bouzouki, a Greek-style mandolin.

C is for cultural hub. Ancient Greece was unprecedented in architecture, drama, science and philosophy.

D is for donkey, the only way to travel around Hydra.

E is for Echidna, from Greek Mythology who has the head of a beautiful nymph and the body of a serpent.

F is for flokati rugs traditionally made of wool in by the people of the mountain villages of northern Greece.

G is for Greek Orthodox, the main religion of Greece.

H is for the Hellenic Republic which is Greece’s official name.

I is for Ionian islands, a string of islands off Greece's west coast.

J is for jewelry, many Greek’s wear special necklaces to protect themselves for the ‘evil eye.’

K is for Kentish plover, bird common on Greece’s beaches.

L is for Loukaniko, Greek sausage.

M is for moussaka, a minced meat, eggplant, and thick white cream.

N is for the nine goddesses of all arts and sciences, and gave the artists and scientists their inspiration.

O is for Olympic Games, which were first held in Olympia nearly 3,000 years ago.

P is for the rare Pinniped Seals.

Q is for Qoppa, a letter in the early Greek alphabet.

R is for Rhodes, the Greek island that is home to the white town, the castle of the Grand Masters, the baths Kallithea.

S is for the sunken island, Santorini. When a volcano erupted the center of the island collapsed into the sea.

T is for the Theater at Epidaurus is one of the most beautiful archaeological in the world and the reported birth place of Apollo’s son.

U is for Uranus, the Greek mythological god of the sky.V is for the Vikos-Aoos Gorge is a popular hotspot for those fond of extreme sports.

W is for the White Tower of Thessaloniki once used to guard the eastern end of the city against invasion is now a museum.

X marks the spot.

Y is for Yaourti me meli or yogurt with honey which has long been popular among the travelers and the Greeks.

Z is for Zakynthos, as founder of Zante Islands is represented in various coins and symbol of the entire island. In the symbol Zakynthos is holding a snake since, according to some legends, he freed the island from snakes.
