Here are some terrific homemade preschool Easter gifts for teachers or parents to use this spring. Children will enjoy that many of these crafts may be completed independently.

Are you looking for simple homemade preschool Easter gifts to do with your children or students? Each of the projects listed below are activities children can do with minimal assistance. The first craft is an envelope Easter basket. The instructions are as follows:

  1. Take a long white, unused envelope. Moisten the flap and seal it shut.
  2. On one end of the envelope, cut out two rectangular sections (1” x 3”) out of each corner. This will form the handle for your basket.
  3. Have the children decorate their baskets with drawings using crayons. (Examples: rabbits, chicks, eggs, lambs, lilies and tulips).
  4. Optional: Plastic Easter grass may be added to the basket.

The second homemade gift is an Easter card, which is easily created by following these simple instructions:

  1. Take a piece of construction paper and fold it in half.
  2. Fold the bottom of the card up about two inches to form a pocket on the inside of the card.
  3. Decorate the card. (Tip: Write a message, use markers, stickers and pictures from a magazine, such as flowers and plants.)
  4. Inside the pocket of the card, place a flower seed package.
  5. Write a message on the inside of the card.

Our third Easter gift is a rabbit called Peter Cottontail. The instructions for your preschool students are as follows:

  1. Glue to the base of a plastic-foam cup a 2 ½” plastic-foam ball.
  2. Create a face out of paper for his eyes, nose and mouth. Glue them to the foam ball.
  3. Make small slits on top of the head to place the paper rabbit ears in
  4. Small pieces of broom straw may be pushed in the foam for whiskers. (Tip: Small pieces of pipe cleaner also work nicely.)
  5. Use ribbon to create a ribbon bow for his neck, three small circles for buttons and a ribbon to go around the base of the rabbit.
  6. Use a cotton ball for the tail. This will need to be glued.

For the fourth craft, children will make a rabbit card:

  1. To begin, use a 10” x 12” piece of construction paper folded it in half. (Tip: Multiple cards of many colors may be made in advance.)
  2. Using poster paint, paint two tongue depressors the color you want your rabbits ears to be. (Note: It might take a couple of coats of paint to cover depressors completely.)
  3. A small circle cut from construction paper will be the rabbits head. (Note: This circle should be the same color as you decided for the ears.) This rabbit will need a face. (Tip: Markers, pipe cleaners, yarn or broom straw are great for making whiskers. Eyes and nose are easily made from felt or flat buttons.)
  4. On the front of the card, glue the depressors for the rabbit’s ears.
  5. Place the rabbits head beneath the tongue depressors and glue.
  6. Rabbit needs a bow tie. (Markers, gift wrap, wall paper, construction paper, and shelving paper are all good possibilities.)
  7. Write a message inside for the receiver.
