Preschool Snowman Games

thumbnailCAUT3PMWPin-the-Carrot:

This game is a spin-off of the classic “Pin-The-Tail-On-The-Donkey,” which also requires few materials. Draw a large snowman and include all of his typical features: Hat, eyes, mouth, arms, etc. Leave out his carrot-nose, but place an “X” where the nose should go. Have pre-cut paper carrots (one for each child) set to the side with a piece of double-sided tape added to one side, ready to go. Explain to the children that the object of the game is to place the snowman’s carrot-nose as close to the “X” as possible. Whoever is the closest is the winner. Taking turns, have a child stand within arms reach to the snowman and blindfold or simply have a child close their eyes. Place the nose in their hand. Turn them around at least once and ask them to place the nose on the snowman. You will see the children explode into laughter when the nose is placed in the silliest of places!

Puzzle Time:

This game targets social developmental skills. Draw or print out an image of a snowman on different colored pieces of paper. Cut the image into three horizontal sections. Once cut, shuffle the different colors into one pile. Have the children sit in a circle and distribute the puzzle pieces; one piece to a child. Have the children stand up and locate the children who have like-colored puzzle pieces. When the children are correctly grouped together, have them work together and “build” the snowman by putting the puzzle together. Everyone wins with this team-building game!

Customize Your Snowman:

This game will require a few more materials and pre-game set up. Draw a large picture of a snowman on a poster board or any large surface. Cut out “snowman wear” to be placed on the snowman. Have different options for each item. For example, have at least three different hats, scarves, mouths, etc. Have a piece or two of double-sided tape on each item and have them on display during the game. Have the children (one at a time) choose from the different types of hats, scarves, gloves, buttons, brooms, noses, eyes, mouths, etc, and see what the class comes up with. Have as many choices as there are students and use your imagination. Once the snowman is dressed the game is over. See what your little ones have used to create the snowman, the funnier the better!

These preschool snowman games are sure to put a smile on everyone’s face, including the snowmen! No matter what is going on with the weather these games will offer hours of fun for school or home.
