    Re the Joao Cardoso review

We have True Image 11 Home for our Vista desktop (not the ICH9R chipset) & have had nothing but trouble.  We did a full backup, but we cannot view nor can we retrieve backed up files--the latter because they are password protected.  What password???  (No explanation for this--that we saw--in the documentation.)  A message to Acronis tech support produced nothing but a form e-mail response ("your call is very important to us...") + a directive not to send our message more than one time.  The e-mail suggested getting the latest update and searching their web forum for answers needed.  From the forum we discovered that lots of other people had the same questions (what password, etc. etc.).  We learned that the password is allegedly the administrator password for your home computer.  How many people with kids/video games go to the trouble of setting administrator passwords?  This is the Home edition, remember. (We do have parental controls set, however.)  Anyway, we set the password, & to no one's surprise, it WILL NOT WORK.  So, on to endless uninstalls/reinstalls/updates, etc., and the password still will not work.

Further, why can't we see the actual file names on the backup?  All that is visible are 4 GB blocks enigmatically named "backup.tib1, backup.tib2", etc.  That's great.  No way to know what you have actually backed up.  But does it really matter, since you can't access your backup folders anyway-- what with that ever-elusive password?  So, we've dusted off our old PC Backup program & its working perfectly.  I think Acronis put too much of their money into media hype & not enough into their product & documentation. (Ever notice that all the websites selling True Image 11 use exactly the same effusive terminology?)  Anybody out there want to buy a like-new copy of True Image 11 Home?  Cheap -- and guaranteed not to work.
