What are Windows 7 Intel Chipset Drivers and why do you need to update them

Drivers are the link between your software and your hardware. Drivers are used by the Operating System (in our case Windows 7) to communicate with the hardware. Every hardware component of your PC has a unique driver and different Operating Systems use different drivers for the hardware. Intel Chipset Drivers are the drivers that are used by Intel motherboards. Windows 7 comes with built in drivers for Intel Chipsets, but they are not the latest drivers released by Intel. Drivers often have bugs in them and can cause malfunctioning, lack of performance and even damage to the Hardware components. To fix these problems, Hardware manufacturers release updates and patches. So, in order to keep your Intel Hardware in perfect working condition you have to update your drivers on regular basis.

How to find and Install Windows 7 Intel Chipset Drivers

There are two different ways to update your Intel Chipset Drivers. Intel sells Chipsets for different motherboard manufacturers like Asus, Gigabyte, MSI and others. So the first way is to download and install the Windows 7 Intel Chipset Drivers from your motherboard manufacturers Web site. But often these drivers are obsolete and to make sure you have the latest drivers then you have to download and install the Windows 7 Intel Chipset Drivers from Intel's Web site. Just follow this link http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx . You can search downloads with your motherboard's name and model, or you can download manually. For manual download, in the “Select a product family” field select Chipset, than in the “Select a product line” field, select if your PC is Desktop, Laptop, Server or Workstation. And finally, in the “Select a product name” field chose the product name of your motherboard. Then the Intel Web site will prompt you for your Operating System, select Windows 7 and be careful to choose if your version is x64-bit or x32-bit. This is very important because the drivers are not the same. Then, all you have to do is to choose the Drivers section and download the drivers and then install them.
