You may want to share your PowerPoint files with others, but not worry about whether they have a compatible version of PowerPoint. Instead, convert the file to Adobe Acrobat PDF. Just about everyone's computer comes with the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Converting your PowerPoint file into Adobe Acrobat .pdf format allows you to share your presentation or PowerPoint file with others without giving them the capability to copy and edit your presentation. It also makes it easier to share your PowerPoint file as a download file on your web site. Maybe you gave a training presentation and you want to share the file with attendees. Almost everyone has the free Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on their computers, so you don't have to worry about explaining how to open a file.

You don't need to buy the expensive Adobe Acrobat Professional to convert your .pptx (PowerPoint 2007 format) and .ppt (PowerPoint 2003 and earlier format) files to .pdf. These are the free applications.
