How this guide works

Whether you're not interested in renewing the software you already have, or don't have any current protection at all, this list gives a selection of the different kinds of free antivirus software available. Some software is always free, but others offer a subscription for improved service. Spyware and adware protection can also be offered, something that will also be explored in this guide. Take note, like previous guides of mine, this is not a ranking list; this just shows which types of software are available along with their assets and flaws.
