Don't be stuck with the default toolbars of Outlook 2007. Create new ones and change them!
Create a Toolbar
The Standard toolbar has what most people use when working with Outlook. You may want more, another toolbar with specific buttons or to make changes to the already existing one. The following steps show how to create a toolbar:
- Select Customize from the Tools menu.
- Select the Toolbars tab and click New.
- Enter a name for the Toolbar and click OK.
- The toolbar appears as an empty box.
- Add buttons and commands in the toolbar as explained in the beginning of Adding a Button or Command.
Reset a Toolbar
Open the Customize window from the Tools menu any time you want to add, change or remove items from the toolbar. Like with removing a button, select the button or command to move and drag it to the Customize window.
You can also Rename and Delete a toolbar from the Customize window. Select the toolbar to rename or delete and click Rename or Delete. Enter the new name in the Rename Toolbar or confirm you wish to delete the toolbar in the delete toolbar confirmation window.
Note: You can't reset a custom toolbar.
If you changed an item in a menu, you can reset the menu rather than the entire toolbar. For example, suppose you deleted items from the Find All menu in the Tools menu. You change your mind and want the items back. Use the following steps to restore the commands in the Find All or other similar menus with deleted items:
- Click Customize from the Tools menu.
- Click Tools.
- Right-click Find All and select Reset.
- Close the Customize window.
The toolbars can move around Outlook, dock or float. You can also change the shape of a floating toolbar and change the size of a docked toolbar. Move any toolbar by selecting the move handle (four dots on the far left side of a toolbar) and moving the toolbar to its new location.
For docked toolbars, click on the Title Bar and drag it to a new spot.
To change the shape of a floating toolbar, move the cursor over one of its edges at the top/bottom for taller or shorter or left/right for longer or narrower until a two-directional arrow appears. Click and drag the edge.
In resizing the docked toolbars, you can't change the size of a toolbar that appears on a row by itself. However, if you have two toolbars on the same row, you can resize them. Click the empty space of the toolbar you want to resize until you see a cursor with four arrows.
