Bleezer

This multi-platform blog editor works not only with Windows, but also with OS X and Linux. Likewise, it claims to support any blogging software including Blogger.com. Bleezer features a WYSIWYG editor and image uploader to let you add images that accompany your blog postings. This blog editor/software also supports Categories and Tagging and pretty much everything that you would need to carry out your daily blogging needs minus the tedious tasks of logging in to your default blogging platform. Equally helpful is Bleezer’s Spell Check facility, Automatic Ping-ing services that supports Technorati, Weblogs.com, ping-o-matic and many more. You can also blog offline or online using Bleezer.

Post2Blog

This blog editor has a lot of similar features with Bleezer including WYSIWYG, Spellchecker, image uploader, Ping-ing service that supports Technorati, Delicious, Buzzwords and 43 Things tags. To differentiate with Bleezer, Post2Blog also features a “portable mode” wherein you can download a light version of the software and used it anywhere you go. Aside from this, it also supports a Firefox plugin and quick post feature for the Internet Explorer. As an added feature, and perhaps to gain some revenue for the software, Post2Blog lets users earn money using an “Insert Amazon Link” feature. And lastly, it lets you create posts using MS Word and post your finished article to your Blog using a “Send To” button in the MS Word Menu. Post2Blog is a freeware and although this might appeal to those short of budget, it however poses a big threat since you will be left to fend for yourself should the software malfunction. That’s because the software doesn’t have technical support.

BlogDesk

This blogging software offers an easy-to-use interface and features the following:

  • WYSIWIG editor
  • Image uploader/editor
  • Automatic thumbnail handling
  • Works offline/online
  • Spellchecker
  • One-Click Blog posting to multiple blogs
  • Keeps Back up copy of posts and stores locally

w.bloggar

Calls itself as a Post and Template editor that runs on the Windows Graphical User Interface. Like all other blogging software, this software allows you to edit posts offline and save your edited posts on your local drive. It is also compatible with most blogging platform and requires that your blog have implemented an Application Programming Interface (API). It currently works well with Blogger API, MovableType API, XML-RPC, b2 API and metaWeblog API. The software is also available for download for free.

Windows Live Writer

Of the five blog editor/software that we listed, WLW is my favorite. According to the product pitch, WLW “is a desktop application that makes it easy to publish rich content to your blog.” It supports major blogging services which include Windows Live Spaces, SharePoint, WordPress, Blogger and many more. You can compose blog posts and append photos/images and videos to accompany your blog posts. It also features geomapping and tagging posts. Windows Live Writer also lets you create your posts offline and publish it quickly the next time you connect to the Internet. Personally, this software/editor takes quite some time to learn to use it. But once you get the hang of publishing your posts using WLW, you’d definitely not look for another blog editor/software. It supports various blogging platform/system including WordPress, Expression Engine, MovableType, Serendipity, and more.
