Microsoft Office Backgrounds
Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 includes a number of backgrounds, yet the folks at Microsoft aren’t stopping there, as they have included a host of free backgrounds to keep your presentations fresh.
All you need is an internet connection to access this free service anytime.
- First, open your copy of Microsoft PowerPoint 2003.
- On the top right hand corner of the window you will find a white box with the words Type a message for help.
- In this box type the phrase Free Backgrounds.
- A search result box will appear with a link embedded in the phrase Microsoft Office Templates: Download templates for calendars, business plans, resumes, and more.
- Clicking on this link will bring you to the Microsoft Office web page where you can begin your search for free templates.
- Once the Microsoft Office webpage has opened, locate the search box at the top left of the page and type in the word Backgrounds
From this page you will be able to sort through backgrounds for all Microsoft Office programs and choose the ones that are applicable to your program needs. This system isn’t as organized as other Microsoft downloads, such as PowerPoint templates, however I have found a number of great diamonds in this rough.
Third-Party Backgrounds
There are a number of third-party websites that offer backgrounds for Microsoft PowerPoint 2003. Be careful when downloading information from unfamiliar sites, and always make sure your virus software is up to date.

- http://www.poweredtemplates.com/ - This site offers a bunch of backgrounds, templates, clip art, and video to spruce up your presentation.
- http://www.brainybetty.com/ - From free templates, photos, and music, Brainy Betty offers everything you need to make your presentation as professional as possible, but I like this site because it has a great selection of educational backgrounds.
- http://www.presentationpro.com/ - Presentationpro.com has an easy to navigate data base and downloads backgrounds, graphics, icons, and flash art directly to your software.
