Norton products are well known for their credibility & performance. However, it has been noticed that after the subscription period is over, the user is automatically charged with a renewal amount. Find out how you can cancel your Norton account and get back the money charged to your credit card.

Whenever you purchase a Norton product, you are required to create a Norton account that holds your personal information and the product you are buying. This account also holds your credit card information if you are making an online purchase of the software. For your convenience, or so they say, Norton automatically charges your credit card with the renewal service amount of the product you are buying after the renewal period is over. This is to ensure that you get uninterrupted service from Norton. However, most users are not aware of this fact and as a result they end up paying the renewal amount to Norton even when they didn’t want to renew the subscription. In this article, I'll tell you how to cancel your subscription.

Norton Account Cancellation

In order to cancel your Norton account and get back the money charged by Norton, you can do any one of the following three things.

  1. Call the customer care on toll free number 1877-294-5265.
  2. Use Symantec online support and chat with their agent.
  3. Fill out Norton Automatic Renewal Service Cancellation Form available on Norton’s website.

Before you choose any of the above methods to initiate Norton cancellation process, make sure you do have the following information ready:

  1. The first six digits and last four digits of the credit card you used to make the purchase online.
  2. The name as printed on the credit card.
  3. The credit card expiration date.
  4. Your Norton account log-in address, which is the email address you chose to sign-up with.
  5. If you want to cancel a purchase, then you also need the order number for the same. Order cancellation can only be done within 7 days of purchase.

If you choose to fill the online cancellation form for Norton cancellation, then you will have to wait for 2-3 days before you get a response from the support team, and this process may even take longer depending on the situation.

Contacting an agent using online support is a lot better than filling out the Norton cancellation from, if the agent really knows what he/she is doing. Trust me on this; you really don’t want to wait for your refund, so the best option would be to call the customer care directly on the toll free number. When calling customer care keep the above information handy and provide all the information when asked by the customer care executive to initiate a quick Norton cancellation process for refund of your money.

You can also ask the executive to remove the automatic billing service from your account if you still are under the subscription period. In this case, the executive will remove the credit card information on file from your Norton account and you will not be charged for any of the services.
