unable to install comodo
I cannot get comodo to install on Windows 7 64. Every time I run it, I get the error 109: Not able to extract InCompatsw.ini.
I have tried to disable the windows defender and the built in firewall while I try to run it as administrator. I have downloaded the latest version I could find, 3.12.111745.560. I have also tried an earlier version.
Does anyone have any other suggestions I can try?
Thanks,
Erin

RE: Top Free Firewalls for Windows 7
@xavier: You won't believe that Zonealarm even today could not be installed onto a fresh Windows 7 install ... Sorry, that I have not been able to get back to you earlier!

RE: Top Free Firewalls for Windows 7
Thank you all for your valuable comments!

@ KJ: Indeed is Online Armor Free not Win7 compatible as of today
@swatti: VirusBuster Internet Security Suite isn't Windows 7 compatible either
@Jeffrey: Blink PE doesn't make it to the list currently. The product lacks official Windows 7 compatibility, and is limited to 30 days use for people outside of North-America
@Karoly: I can confirm that Sunbelt Personal Firewall Version as of today is Windows 7 incompatible
@ "the all seeing I": Microsoft Security Essentials provides anti-virus functionality and does not include any firewall functionality per se.

Online Armor 3.5
OA 3.5 will not work with Win 7. They released a beta version this week that seems to run pretty well on 32-bit, but for 64-bit, this is from their support forums.
"This is x86 only; We are actively developing x64 now and will have a beta out (if things go well) towards year end."

Comodo Firewall Causes Problems in Windows 7 x64
I have been having problems with Windows Explorer crashing in Windows 7 x64 when right clicking. Then today I get a red message from the firewall about Explorer.exe

PC Tools Firewall also has issues with Windows 7 x64 causing internet connection problems.

None of the others to my knowledge offer a free x64 version that will install for Windows 7 without running it in Vista compatibility mode.

Blink Personal Edition for Windows 7
I would choose Blink Personal Edition for Windows 7 because it is one of the few security applications that can protect a Windows based system from the exploitation of vulnerabilities in the Operating System itself and 3rd party software. Blink Personal Edition is free for one year and currently supports Windows 7 32bit. eEye is working on support for the 64bit edition as we speak.

More information on Blink can be found here:

Sunbelt Personal Firewall
Sunbelt Personal Firewall is NOT compatible with Windows 7! It will give you BSOD if you install it on Windows 7. Apparently Sunbelt is currently working on it's compatiblity. See this forum thread:

zonealarm vs windows7
zone alarm will not work in windows 7!! not without using windows vista sp1; which at this is particular point is incompatible with windows 7!!
i don't know how anyone can possibly be using zone alarm free firewall in windows 7. i have tried and tried to install zone alarm free firewall into win7, it keeps telling me to get winvis sp1!!
if there is anyway to install winvis sp1 over the top of win7...well then i would sure love to know how....i mean without hacking the win7 registry (unless that is the only way).
currently i am using the win7 RC edition and not the full consumer release...since it won't actually be out to the public till october. so what am i missing here?? am i delusional, does zone alarm have a secrete sight that only savvy win7 techno-geeks know about??
as far as i know win7 (public release) will already have the sp1 embedded. that doesn't really help anyone who needs to install sp1 needy programs like zone alarm free.
