I am a huge music and movie buff so when the iTunes Store launched awhile back it was like a dream come true. Finding and purchasing media is a fairly easy task for someone who is familiar with iTunes, but if you're not don't worry, read on and you'll be a pro in no time.
iTunes has a very sleek setup for finding the media you want. When you open iTunes simply click on the Store option. When the store loads you will immediately see some featured and new songs and movies that have been added. You also will see all of the categories of media to look through. The store is not simply limited to just music and movies. You can browse TV shows, music videos, audiobooks and podcasts just to name a few.
So now that you are in the main page of the iTunes Store you will begin your search process. Type in the title or artist that you are searching for in the search bar located in the upper right hand corner of the window. Once you search for the artist or song you will be given your results. You are not strictly given one result either. You will be given music videos, podcasts, and similar artists if available. You can see in the lower half of the store some of the most popular downloads from that artist. This is probably the best place to look when you are in search of a song you may have heard on the radio as it will most likely be a little more popular.
Once the media file is found you simply click on it and choose "Buy." When you click the buy button a little screen will pop up asking you if you are sure you want to purchase the file. You will also be asked to type in your iTunes password that you registered when you first setup iTunes. You can download a single song or an entire album. The same with television shows, you can choose just to download a single episode or an entire season.
When you have fully purchased the file it will begin downloading. The amount of time it takes to download really depends on your internet connection. A standard DSL connection can download many files in about 5-10 minutes, give or take. Some songs can even take a minute and an entire album can sometimes only take 10 minutes, it all depends on connection speed.
Once the file is downloaded it will show up in your library as well as under the section "Purchased" on your iTunes menu. Now all you have to do is view/listen to the file and enjoy.
The iTunes store really is a user-friendly service. It without question helped change the music industry and how customers get their entertainment these days. The prices are very fair and it's hard not to find many artists or songs within iTunes. For any further questions regarding iTunes you can click on the "Support" option under quick links in the store home page. For video tutorials, you can check out Apples iTunes page here.
