Here's a few tips and tricks for your Mac from the Finder to Mail. Learn how to make use of email Notes and To-Do lists, as well as how to quickly organize your desktop.

A Bag of Three Tips

I have written a bunch of articles here at Bright Hub and they usually cover one topic. Well, there are many times when I have a several quick tips but the tips don't warrant their own article. So, as a result, I will be providing a small collection of tips in this article and many future articles. In this installment I have two Mail tips and one tip to keep your Desktop organized.

Shall we start? Let's go:

1. Have you ever wanted to send yourself an emai? Maybe you need to remind yourself of something or just want to send yourself a URL you don't want to forget. Well, if you are at a computer with Mail set up with your email account you can send yourself a Note. By click the yellow button called "Note" a new email will be created that looks like it is on yellow legal paper. No addressing needed, however, since this is a note and it will be sent to your inbox once you click "Done." Type your note, click "Done" and once it arrives in your Inbox it will have bold text and a note icon to the left of it to distinguish itself from an email. The great thing about a note is that you can turn it into an email and send it to someone else. (figure 1)

2. Speaking of Notes in Mail, next to the "Note" button is a "ToDo" button. It works similar to notes, but instead of a note you get create a list of items in the ToDo list under Reminders in Mail. Each time you click "ToDo" you get a new line in the ToDo list. When it is done you can check it off or delete it. (figure 2)

3. Want to keep you Desktop nice and neat? Set it up to always keep items arranged by name, kind, size, or more options which can be found in the "View" menu. In this menu you will find amenu called "Arrange" with all of these options. If you keep your Desktop arranged by on of these options it will always be neat and tidy without looking like the computer threw up a bunch of icons all over your Desktop. This trick also works for any folder on your computer too.

There you have it. Three tips for you and your Mac. Keep reading for more tips coming soon!
