There are a number of issues that people have had with the iPhone since its launch. We've noted in our list the complaints that have been addressed in the second generation 3G iPhone. Technical problems aside (though these seem to be few), here are several features that many people wish the first generation iPhone had:
- GPS capability (included in the 3G iPhone)
- Many smart phones are capable of GPS navigation, so people naturally wondered why the original release of the iPhone wasn't as well.
- 3G data capabilities (included in the 3G iPhone)
- The EDGE network in the original iPhone was slow as dial-up. Fortunately the new phone can connect to the 3G network, which is about 10x faster.
- MMS support - the ability to send and receive images and files over text messaging (or SMS)
- The iPhone still isn't able to send images or video in text message form.
- 3rd Party Apps (included in the 3G iPhone)
- The new App Store will provide hundreds of new applications for the iPhone on July 11th, 2008.
- Push Email and Microsoft Exchange support (included in the 3G iPhone)
- These services are crucial for technologically advanced corporations to control their fleet of phones securely. These, along with many other "enterprise" features have been added to the iPhone.
- Lack of a flush headphone jack (fixed in the 3G iPhone)
- The new phone fixes the issue of the headphone jack being recessed into the frame and not usable by the majority of headphones. Some plastic had to be cut away in order for standard jacks to be used.
As you can see, the majority of the complaints that people have had about the iPhone are being addressed in the sec. The enterprise features specifically will open up corporations to large scale adoption of the 3G iPhone.
