Printing to a network printer from your Mac is super easy!

A lot of offices are switching to Macs these days. Most offices have networked computers and printers, making it simple to communicate between multiple machines.

In addition, individuals are setting up networks in home offices, as affordability, technology and education makes this process less complicated.

If you already have your network set up, printing from your Mac is easy. All you have to do is enable AppleTalk and add your printer to the printer list. If your machines are not currently networked, you will have to set that up before you can print, or you will have to do it the old-fashioned way -- using cables to connect machines!

Enable AppleTalk

First, enable AppleTalk by going to System Preferences > Network.

If you are on a wireless network, go to AirPort > Advanced > AppleTalk.

On the other hand, if you are connected via Ethernet cable, go to Ethernet > Advanced > AppleTalk.

Check the box next to "Make AppleTalk active."

Add your Printer

In the Finder menu, select Go and click on Applications.

In the Applications folder, open the Utilities folder and find the Print Center icon. Double-click on the icon.

A window will open. It will either give you the available printers, or inform you that no printers are available.

If no printers are available, click Add, then select AppleTalk from the first drop-down menu.

Choose your printer form the printer list.

Select your printer model from the Printer Model drop-down menu, then click Add.

That printer should now be available in the Printer List window.

Finishing Up

Once the printer is added, it will show up whenever you are connected to the network, you won't have to add it again.

Now all you have to do is hit Apple + P to print documents and images from your computer. That makes printing on a network a cinch!
