Connecting a Belkin Wireless G Plus Cable/DSL Router

Setting up your own wireless network for your home or business can be a bit of a challenge. If you do not have any experience with wireless networks then you may find it difficult. That is not to say that it can not be done. Anyone with a basic set of computer skills will be able to get this router set up and running. Then you can enjoy your high speed connection all over your house.

Before we can do anything else you have to connect the hardware. If you are replacing an existing router then you will simply hook it up the same way. If this is a new router then you should hook your Ethernet port into the modem and the WAN port on the router. Connect the computer to one of your numbered router ports. Consult your manual if you need further instructions on how to set up the wires.

Turn off your router and your modem. Then turn your modem back on. Then turn your router back on, wait for your lights to go back on.

Open your web browser

Open any web browser you may own and navigate to 192.168.2.1. Put this in your URL bar.

Submit and configuration

Click on the “submit” and you will access the configuration page. This is where you will define your settings. Here you should enter the name of your network and set your security settings.

*Note: If you are asked for a username and password put in admin for the username and leave the password blank.

Initial setup

Click on “initial setup” and then click on the button labeled “dynamic IP address”. A new screen will appear click on “clone Mac address”. Now tap enter. Your router should now have copied the address.

Your wireless network should now be set up.

It is worth noting that if you have a highspeed connection you may need to set your router to Ethernet Bridged Mode before it will allow you to connect.
